Smart people masturbate more, study finds

The scientific data that are sometimes offered to us has a relative veracity, since people we tend to lie quite often.

We do not tell the whole truth, especially on those issues that bother us or on which a cultural taboo weighs. One of the most obvious is sex, where "normality" is a blurred concept. But from time to time a scientific study appears that sheds some light on the question of how we relate to the other sex and with ourselves.

Smart people masturbate more regularly, study reveals

Recent research carried out in the United States has revealed a curious correlation between two variables: the level of studies of a person and the frequency in masturbation, finding that they are people with greater educational knowledge those who tend to masturbate more frequently.

This interesting and controversial study has been carried out by the National School of Health and Sexual Behavior, which directs the psychologist specializing in sexual behavior Debby Herbenick, a prominent researcher at the Kinsey Institute in the United States of America. She has led this research, finding that people with higher academic levels tend to masturbate more regularly.

According to the Catalan scientific communicator Pere EstupinyĆ  in his book S = EX2, the research was funded entirely by a well-known condom corporation, and consisted of conducting surveys of a total of 6,000 US citizens ages 14-90, rigorously screened, with extensive participant follow-up, this being one of the most complete studies about how human beings live sex in today's societies. The data and results of these surveys have received much attention.

Results of the investigation

As the scrutiny of the polls has revealed, 71.5% of women between 25 and 29 years old admit to having masturbated in the last year. A more modest figure, 46.5%, are women between 60 and 69 years old who claim to have done so in the past 365 days.

If we go into slightly more advanced ages, as is the case of people over 70 years of age, the study reported that 33% say they have masturbated over the last year; quite a high figure if we take into account the popular belief that sex is not present in the lives of the elderly.

It seems that people with better training practice masturbation more

Other conclusions of the study were, for example, the correlation between the academic level of the subject and the correlation of this variable with the frequency of masturbation. As the headline reads, there seems to be a tendency for, the higher the level of education, the more frequently the individual masturbates.

On the other hand, the survey also found that 25% of men and only 5% of women admit to having consulted pornographic content on the Internet in the last month. Another interesting fact, and that has to do with protection in sexual relations, is that 28% of men affirm having lost their erection when they were about to put on a condom in at least one of their last three encounters sexual.
