Who was Bernardo O'Higgins
In this new video from Unprofesor we will explain who it was Bernardo O'Higgins.
Bernardo O'Higgins was a Chilean politician and military, considered father of the homeland in Chilena for his participation in the process of independence of Chile from the Spanish crown. Spain discovered America in 1492, conquered the entire territory and formed its entire empire. But from 1800 all these colonies began to rise to achieve their own independence. The Creoles, people born there, wanted to become independent from the metropolis of Spain. Bernardo O'Higgins, he was born in 1778 and died in 1822. He was the son of a large landowner in Chile and appointed governor, by Spain, of Chile. In his early childhood he studied in Chile but later traveled to England where he continued his studies. Once finished he returns by boat to chili. As there was war, his ship is sunk but he reaches Spain, Cádiz. That is where he comes into contact with those revolutionary, liberal ideas... which at that time were the breeding ground of Europe.
