The Modern School of Ferrer i Guardia is a teaching center that was created in Catalonia at the beginning of the S. XX, specifically it was founded in 1901 by the free thinker Francisco Ferrer i Guardia.
He was born in Alella in 1859 and died in Barcelona in 1909. Francisco Ferrer i Guardia drank from Rousseau's teachings, that is, from free thought, from the love of nature, from the equality of opportunities... and that is why their idea or intention was to educate the working class from a rationalist, secular and non-coercive prism. That is, the modern school teachers understood that their mission was not to coercively educate their students. Rather, they had to accompany them in the educational process, helping them and pushing them (in the good sense of the word) towards learning. Instead of punishments, rules... what they wanted was a free education where it was the student who grows educationally at his own pace and according to his interests. To make a small biographical note on Ferrer i Guardia, he did not die, but was executed during the events of the
