How to manage emotions in the process of finding meaning in your life

Do you feel tired, sad and in no mood to do the activities that you used to do and found them satisfactory? Are thoughts constantly coming to your mind that do not add value to you but that you cannot eliminate? Do these thoughts of sadness, anxiety or emptiness come to your mind automatically and rob you of several minutes or even hours of the day? Do you have feelings of despair, irritability, Lack of sleep, lack of appetite, cramps, difficulty concentrating, Headaches and limbs or digestive problems even when physically well?

It is normal to feel this way at certain times in life, but the most important thing is that you know how to recognize that you are going through a bad time and seek professional help.

Emotional discomfort doesn't have to last forever

Darla was a 29-year-old girl, she felt anguished, alone, and not in the mood to do anything; she just wanted to sleep, she didn't want to wake up and face her reality, she felt culpability and helplessness when remembering his past.

3 years ago she broke the marriage relationship of her, her former partner she mistreated her verbally and physically. He raped her and even forced her to have sex with her friends, but she escaped in time. Remembering that Darla hated him, but at the same time she missed him; she missed the happy moments that she lived with him and not having the person who provided those moments of bliss, she felt lonely and sad, because she thought he was the only person she loved about truth.

Darla felt frustration because for a long time she could not do anything for her partner to change. In her attempt to get back to him, she thought about how badly she treated her when she took psychoactive substances, and that made her feel bad because she wanted to go back there, but at the same time she stopped. That emotional ambivalence disturbed her daily, so she wanted to escape from her mind, from those thoughts that constantly haunted her.

In her psychotherapeutic treatment she learned to eliminate those destructive thoughts that came to her mind and change them for functional thoughts, she learned to correctly interpret her situation through emotional rational interpretation techniques, she learned to be a stronger and more empowered woman, she developed high self-esteem and self-esteem, finding happiness and meaning in her life.

What to do when faced with emotional distress?

This technique will help you gain control of your emotions. It has been scientifically developed and has proven to be very effective in choosing which thoughts to have and which emotions to attract to the mind.

  • Find a quiet place without noise.
  • Standing or sitting, adopt a comfortable posture.
  • Concentrate on your breathing, inhale slowly and bring the air to your diaphragm in 3 times or seconds; then hold the air for 9 beats and expel in 6 beats. Visualize the numbers in your mind, large and colorful, as you mentally count.
  • Focus only on your breathing and mental counting and visualization of the numbers.
  • Repeat the exercise for 10 minutes a day you will see the changes in the first use.
  • The moment you are concentrating on your breathing, bring to your mind a thought that brings you happiness and create a mental video; use your 5 senses.

During exercise you will feel more relaxed, your heart rate will stabilize, you will control your thoughts better and therefore your emotions, you will feel more oxygenated and you will have mental clarity.

This exercise is more effective when there is another person who is inducing what you have to do; if you do it correctly you will have better results.

Remember that every problem has a solution and seeking help shows that you are a person who loves and respects himself and does not accept less than he is worth.
