One of the most important figures in the history of mankind is that of inventors, being scientific geniuses who manage to create something that did not exist before, being these inventors who allow us to advance as a society and without whom we would not live as we do today. To know an example of this kind of people in this lesson from a Teacher we must talk about famous inventors and their inventions.

We are not aware of any inventor of Prehistory, so when talking about inventors we must start with the Old age, finding in many cases geniuses who, although they achieved great inventions, could not do much for the backward society in which they lived.

Archimedes

The first person we think of when talking about Old Age inventors is Archimedes, being a Greek mathematician, physicist and engineer whose creations were very advanced with respect to the thought of the time, but who was killed at the hands of the Romans as just another civilian. Among his main inventions we must speak of the Archimedean screw, the PI number, the principle of the lever and numerous siege and war machines.

Cai Mon

Less known than Archimedes, but also very important to the world. Cai Lun was another of the famous inventors in history. He was a Chinese adviser who is regarded as the inventor of paper, leaving aside the scrolls and papyri of the time and evolving towards a much easier material to treat such as paper.

Aristarchus of Samos

A astronomer and mathematician from the Greek city of Samos, being known for creating the first heliocentric model of the Solar System, placing the Sun instead of the Earth at the center of the universe, and serving as its model for centuries of confusion.

Democritus

Greek philosopher who was the first to speak about the atoms, being for that reason known like the father of the physics and of almost all the pure sciences. According to his thought, the world was a set of atoms and emptiness, being a first sample of what scientists explain centuries later.

During the Middle Ages and Modern age advancements were more and more common, making it easier to understand why more and more inventors were, and especially since the appearance of patrons, who were still people who paid artists and inventors for their talent.

Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci he was an Italian artist who also did scientific, mathematical and engineering work. During his life he was able to create numerous machines, but also to draw plans of others that would take years to be made, being plans of for example tanks or submarines.

Galileo

Galileo he is another of the famous and best known inventors. Italian scientist who was able to create a telescope never seen before, thanks to which it was possible to advance rapidly in all the sections related to the astronomy and cosmology. He was also able to improve the already primitive compass, creating an instrument that would be essential for the new travels of the time.

Isaac Newton

Newton was the first person who was able to explain gravity was the inventor of the reflective telescope, which improved in greatly to those of the time and was also able to reduce the problems that for years most of the telescopes.

Blaise pascal

American inventor creator of the telegraph and morse code, thanks to which human beings were able to communicate over a huge distance almost instantaneously. Louis Braille

French pedagogue who, when he was blinded by his accident in his childhood, dedicated his life to the creation of a reading system for the blind, This being the well-known braille system that is currently commonly used for reading by blind people. But it was not his only creation, since he also created a similar system to be able to read musical scores even when he was blind.

Karl Benz

German inventor and entrepreneur who created automobile engines by petroleum, being therefore the maximum representative of the creation of modern cars and therefore responsible for the main current vehicle. The evolution of Benz cars led to the emergence of Mercedes-Benz, one of the best-known car brands today.

Thomas edison

Alexander Fleming

Scottish scientist who by studying bacteria discovered the penicillin, being key to modern medicine and increasing the life span of human beings, curing diseases that until then were deadly. One of the greatest uses of penicillin was during World War II, saving thousands of lives on the battlefields by the Allies, and causing deaths in the war to be reduce.

Alan Turing

We end this review of famous inventors talking about Alan Turing, an English mathematician expert in computer science, being the creator of the Turing machine that years later would serve as basis for computers and the Internet, being therefore the father of computing. Thanks to his studies during World War II he was able to decipher Nazi codes, which would be essential for the victory of the Allies in the war.
