What is the brain stem
In this BIOLOGY video we will explain "What is the brain stem".
What is the brain stem. The brain stem is the lowest and central part of the brain. Remember that the brain is above the spinal cord. Well; the part that stops being marrow to finally be encephalon, there is. There we really have several anatomical regions tucked in. The lowest part of the brain stem is the bulb. The bulb is followed by the portuberance and if I keep going up I find the midbrain. That is, from bottom to top are these three structures. So, the cerebellum is also a brain stem but it is a structure that is super differentiated from the other three (which are united) because the cerebellum It is like a ball, which is attached to the bulge from behind (as if it had a bow at the nape). Therefore, the cerebellum does not generate any confusion. TAlso in the brain stem we will find the peripheral nervous system. In the lowest part of this brain stem we will have the connection of the central nervous system with the rest of the body. Namely,
a whole system of nerves is going to come out that are not going to travel directly through the spinal cord, but rather; they will innervate other organs. In that sense, they do not share the descending pathway as with the central nervous system. It is a different region. We have a central system and then we have a peripheral nervous system which is the connection of the central with the peripheries. If you want to know more about the subject "What is the brain stem", don't miss this video and practice with the exercises that we have on our website.
