The unconscious according to Freud
Welcome to A teacherToday, continuing with the study that we are carrying out on contemporary philosophy, we are going to talk about the thought of Sigmund Freud, specifically of some fundamental elements of his thought: the concept of unconscious.
According to Freud, most of our thinking, our knowledge and the elements that are part of our mind, They are unaware, that is to say, they are hidden in the depths of our being.
We cannot access it because it is hidden due to a repression process. However, this unconscious, always intends to surface and therefore we can say that there are a series of manifestations in which the unconscious tries to tell us what is happening inside.
Surely, the most important manifestation would be Dreams. Dreams are a fundamental element when it comes to understanding which is our psychic scheme, because through dreams our unconscious releases those elements that are necessary to understand what happens to us.
Freud defines dreams as a token satisfaction of a repressed desire.
