The rebellious side was formed especially by the right-wing and extremist faction of Spain andn that time, among which we could find the Carlist Traditionalist Communion, Falange Spanish, the National Bloc, the Spanish Confederation of Autonomous Rights and the Regionalist League of Catalonia.

The rebels were closely related to the armies, being a large part of them important generals of the Spanish army, such as Frank and cool, being very attached to violence and the most violent reactions, they also blamed the Republican side for all the problems that Spain had, whether or not they had to do with them.

To end this lesson on who won the Spanish Civil War, we need to talk about the greatest beneficiaries of the victory of the insurgents, being small groups within this side, which in one way or another achieved a great victory with the end of the war and the end of the Republic.

Thus the big winners of the war were the following:

  • Francisco Franco was the most benefited for the victory of the nationals, since he was named dictator of Spain, ruling the region for decades, and counting on it with a supreme power, since he had all the powers in his figure in a way or other. His trusted men, some generals during the conflict, also achieved important positions, becoming part of Spain's elite.
  • The phalanx happened to be the Spain's only political party during his dictatorship, being from that moment very close to Franco. The Falange had been a small fascist party without much presence in the elections, achieving few results, but with the support of Franco it became the only party of the dictatorship.
  • The Catholic Church once again had great power in all sectors of Spanish society, since Franco was very religious and understood that much support from the rebels was due to religion. Spain became a very religious nation, in which the opinion of the clergy was extremely important.
  • The great international support of Franco, Germany and Italy got great support in their struggle to spread fascism throughout Europe, since Spain served as an example for the regions they were going to conquer during World War II. Many Spaniards went to fight in World War II, being the price paid by Franco for receiving Nazi and fascist support.
  • the upper classes, led by the nobility and high-ranking businessmen, grew in the new Spanish society, taking away rights from workers, and managing to increase their benefits in every way.
  • The military gained enormous power, since Franco considered them as equals due to their military past. The military came to occupy important positions in all areas of Spain.
