We continue the lesson on the definition and examples of the secondary sector knowing that today, there are endless industries that belong to this sector and that seeing them all is a task that would take us a long time, therefore, we bring you the most important examples within the secondary sector, these being:

Energy

Since the eighteenth century the energy industry began to take the first steps, although it was not until the nineteenth century with the appearance of the first machines such as the steam engine, when it began to spread throughout the world. This area has gone down in history as the well-known field of industry, where the energy sector has always been the most important.

Within this, at first, coal was the most used raw material to provide energy both to move factory machines and locomotives,…. Over time, electricity and fuels are the most used elements. To date, a large number of investigations are being carried out in order to take advantage of even more the so-called as renewable energies, given that the reserves of non-renewables are being consumed at a fairly high.

Building

We continue with the lesson on the secondary sector going on to talk about the oldest industry in the world, construction. Even before the appearance of civilization, the different human populations were already building their first buildings.

This industry, we can divide it into two very important points, the first is the sector of construction of buildings, from small houses to huge skyscrapers or centers commercial. In a second group, this industry, is also responsible for the construction of roads for the transport, that is, roads, fundamental elements to be able to move both people and goods.

Within this point, we must know that the materials used today are: concrete, wood, steel and synthetic elements, Well, depending on the constructions that are going to be made, these are intertwined or one of the elements is simply used.

Crafts

We can say that it is the oldest industry we know, along with construction. From the beginning of civilization, a group named as exempt was created, these were a series of people who were engaged in other activities within the community, as they had a certain skill. With the passage of time they would be called by the name of artisans, being people who used any type of material premium for the creation of luxury objects, tools or utensils for daily life (such as spoons, tables, chairs, clothing…).

Food industry

We conclude our lesson on the secondary sector with one of the most important industries for the lives of human beings. As we saw previously, in the primary sector, agriculture, livestock and fishing were the most important activities within the sector. This industry is in charge of carrying out the necessary treatments for the conservation of the products, such as the preserves that we eat at home, some of the dishes for microwave…
