What are the easiest types of braids to do?

In this article we show you how to make the simplest braids step by step, so that you can leave the house beautifully and without wasting a lot of time.

1. Basic braid

If you are a beginner and want to start with the simplest hairstyle, try the basic braid type first. It is the easiest and fastest to do, but it will also serve as a base for other more elaborate braids.

First, separate your hair into three distinct sections. Depending on the height at which you want the braid, you should start parting the hair at one point or another. For a low braid, part your hair close to the nape of your neck. If instead you want to give it a different touch and make a raised braid, start by parting the hair at the crown.

To make this type of braid, intertwine the different sections, starting by crossing the right section above the central part. Do the same with the left section on which is now the central one.

Repeat this process alternating sides, always crossing the strands that form the outer sections over the strand that forms the central section. Make sure that the braid remains firm and tight.

When a few centimeters of hair remain unbraided (ideally about 5 centimeters), hold the end of the braid with a rubber band. It has to be tight so that the braid does not end up unraveling.

2. Rope braid or twist

The rope braid, also called a twist because of the spiral it forms, is another of the simplest. It is ideal to collect your hair in a different way and without wasting as much time as with other types of braids.

The first thing you should do is collect your hair in a ponytail, which you then have to divide into two equal sections. Then you take a section with each hand and twist or twist them in the same direction, for example the left.

Once threaded, you need to weave the two sections together in the opposite direction, in this case the right. The braidshould form a spiral similar to that of a thick rope. Finish the braid with a hair tie.

3. French braid

The French braid is one of the most flattering and simpler than it seems.

To start, you need to gather a first layer of hair and hold it mid-length at the back of the head. This portion of hair is what you will begin to braid following the same procedure as the basic braid. That is, separating that first layer into three sections that you will intertwine.

When you've crossed the three sections a couple of times, pick up a strand from the right side of the excess hair and add it to the outer right side of the braid. Then cross this right section along with the added strand above the middle section.

Perform the same action but on the left side, adding a lock of excess hair to the left side of the braid. Then cross this part over the middle section.

So that it is better understood, the idea is to add the strands of hair to the basic central braid of the cloak we had left uncollected. Repeat this procedure until you reach the nape of the neck and until all the hair from the root is already gathered in the central braid.

At the nape of the neck, you can simply collect the remaining hair with a hair tie or barrette, or continue weaving a basic braid.

4. Dutch braid

The Dutch braid is identical to the French one, but they differ in that the strands of this one will criss-cross below the center section.

You should also start by gathering a portion of hair from the top layer and dividing it into three sections. Start with a basic braid, but this time cross the strands on the sides below the center section.

From here, continue braiding in the same way that you did with the French braid, collecting strands of hair from the rest of the layers and adding it to the sections that you have previously separated. The difference is that this time you will pass the hair strands under the center section.

Once you reach the nape, continue with the braiding following the basic procedure, not forgetting that the strands continue to interlace below the central section. Finish by picking up with a hair tie or barrette and leaving a few inches of hair loose.

5. Herringbone or Fishtail Braid

The herringbone braid, also called a fishtail, is another of the most used braids that will suit you best. This type of braids they can be done in different ways, but in this article we explain the simplest one.

To start, part your hair in half into two equal sections. Next, take a small strand from the inside of the right section and cross it over the top to blend it into the left section.

Do the same but with a strand on the left side, bringing it up until it is mixed with the right section. Repeat the process over and over again, alternating the sides and trying to get the strands to blend into each section.
