Her parents were John Spencer, 8th Earl of Spencer, and Frances Ruth Burke Roche. Diana of Wales spent her childhood at Sandringham, in the family residence where she was born. There she received an education from governesses.

Diana of Wales' parents divorced and in 1968 she was left in her parental custody. She began studying at King's Lynn School, and two years later she entered a girls' boarding school (Riddlesworth Hall). She later changed boarding school, this time from Kent County, called West Heath.

When her father, John Spencer, inherited the title VIII Earl Spencer, Diana of Wales became known as Lady Diana Spencer.

Beginnings of a romance

Later, during the years 1977 and 1978, Diana de Gales began to study in Switzerland, where she completed her studies. She after she moved to London. Just that year, in 1977, she met her future husband, Prince Charles of Wales.

He was the first son of Queen Elizabeth II of England, who would also inherit the British throne. Two years after meeting, Diana of Wales (Lady Di) and Charles of Wales began a love affair.

Eventually Diana of Wales moved to Clarence House, which was the family residence of the Queen, Charles's mother. It was around 1981, when the couple's official engagement was revealed.

On July 29, 1981, Diana of Wales and Charles of Wales were married in St. Paul's Cathedral, located in London.. Following the wedding, Diana received the title of "Princess of Wales". In any case, she quickly became popular with her nickname "Lady Di", thanks to her familiarity, closeness and sympathy with the people.

The Royal couple of Diana of Wales and Charles of Wales had two children: Guillermo (William) and Enrique (Harry). Their first son, Guillermo, was born on June 21, 1982. Enrique, the second son, was born just two years later, on September 15, 1984.

Diana had the desire to dedicate herself to her children, although this was not an easy task, due to the demanding official schedule of the princes. Each year they had up to five hundred official commitments scheduled.

After their separation, Princess Diana continued with her solidarity projects and with her collaborations with the most disadvantaged. She was seen as a very close woman, who was involved in numerous charitable acts.

Some of these titles and distinctions were: the appointment of her as the honorable Diana Frances Spencer (from July 1, 1961 to June 9, 1975); naming her as Royal Highness the Princess of Wales (except Scotland) (July 29, 1981 to August 28, 1996); Supreme Class Member of the Order of Virtue (Nishan al-Kamal Decoration in 1981) and Grand Cross of the Order of the Crown (November 18, 1982).

Last years of life and death

After all, Princess Diana remade her love life. Her last partner was the Egyptian Dodi Al-Fayed, who was a film producer as well as a millionaire.

Diana of Wales (Lady Di) died in a car accident that occurred in Paris, inside a Tunnel called Tunnel de l’Alma. This tunnel was located on the north bank of the Seine river in Paris. Her death took place on August 31, 1997, and Princess Diana was only 36 years old.

Two other people were also killed in the accident: Diana's current partner, who was film producer Dodi Al-Fayed, and the driver of the vehicle, Henri Paul. The causes of the accident point to the fact that the vehicle was traveling at high speed, because they were trying to flee from the paparazzi. Al-Fayed died on the spot, and Diana died a few hours later, at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital.

Diana of Wales's funeral took place in Westminster, and it was massive; nearly two million people attended. In addition, it was broadcast live on television, with the permission of the British royal house.
