The continents are large masses of land that we have called by different names, and that even we have divided into subcontinentsThe best known case being that of the three subcontinents of America. Where is North America.
Before listing the different countries that make up North America we must talk about the region, defining the area to understand its limits and other characteristics that we can find its land.
North America or North America is one of the parts into which the Continent of america, the other two being Central America or Central America, and South America or South America. The
division of the continent It has two main reasons, being its enormous size one of them, since it is the second largest continent largest in the world, and the other reason is the great difference that exists due to cultural differences between the three zones.North America is located north of Central America and to the south of the Arctic Ocean, while to the east and west it is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. It is a continent close to most continents, having the northeast Greenland that communicates with Europe, at southeast being communicated with the Caribbean and also to the northwest with the Bering Strait that separates it from the area Asian.
To better understand the extension of the countries in this area, we must talk about different parts of the continent such as km2 and the number of inhabitants. As for its extension, it is 23,663,760 km2, being greater than the other two subcontinents that make up America. On the other hand, the number of inhabitants of the subcontinent is 471.000.000 people, being also higher than the population of the other two parts of America.
List of countries and capitals of North America - CURRENT.

Dependencies and other class of North American states in 2019.
To continue this lesson on the countries and capitals of North America, we must talk about those dependent nations of the region, that is, those that they do not have their own sovereignty.
Dependencies are a little known topic, so before listing them we must briefly explain their meaning. Dependencies are territories that are formed as states, but that they do not have their own autonomy, not existing a total sovereignty over their lands. They are a kind of satellite states, since the country that is sovereign over them is usually at a great distance.
On the other hand in North America we find a very special country case, not being a sovereign state since they depend on a metropolis, but neither having the denomination of dependencies, being halfway between both options. We are going to include this class of states in this lesson in the dependencies section, sharing a greater number of characteristics with these than with sovereign states.
To list the dependencies and other special cases of North American states we are going to follow a system similar to the one used in the previous section and to the one used in previous lessons similar, adding the name of the state to which the dependencies belong, since the special states also have a metropolis state. On the left we will place the name of the dependency, on the right the name of its capital and finally in parentheses we will place the state on which they depend.
