Indefinite strike in the only H&M logistics center in Spain
The only logistics center of the fashion firm H&M in Spain has decided to carry out an indefinite strike after negotiations between the workers' unions and the Swedish company to increase the salary of its workers in the warehouse have been truncated.
The UGT union has indicated that there are discrepancies between H&M and its workers in relation to the salary increase, but that also we want to avoid discrimination against those workers who have a "plus an person". This measure affects all workers who are in the firm's logistics center located in Torrejón de Ardoz, in Madrid.
Indefinite strike for salary conditions
Apparently, H&M wants to narrow the pay gap between 318 new hires and veterans. But he wants to do it by "equalizing downwards", that is, by increasing the salary only to those workers who earn less. For UGT, this measure is a clear example of the «little interest» to correct this situation.
"We are not willing to accept this crude blackmail", It is for this reason that as of this Tuesday an indefinite strike has been called in the only H&M logistics center in all of Spain, which could cause great havoc for sales, as it is responsible for supplying stores in Spain and Portugal.
The waiters of the only logistics center in Spain are planted
Currently, the base salary of warehouse porters is 854 euros per month at forty hours weekly, which with the night and transport bonuses "barely exceed 900 euros", they point out from UGT. A considerably lower figure than its competitors. For example, there is a different one of up to 600 euros with Inditex.
It should be noted that at the company meeting with the unions, a 15.9% increase in salary has been proposed, spread over 3 years. This increase would benefit half of the staff at the logistics center in Madrid. They would also have a semiannual attendance bonus for the entire workforce and functional bonuses for employees who perform administrative tasks, H&M pointed out.
However, it seems that these conditions have not been accepted by the union representatives, which is why they have made the decision to start a strike that begins today that will not end until an agreement is reached between both parties.
