Over the nose

Our nose is a wonderful organ that is part of the respiratory system and that it is located in the center of our face. In addition to allowing us to breathe, it is the organ that is responsible for our sense of smell, because within her, there are hundreds of nerve endings that perceive odors and transmit them to our brain.

The nose, like any other part of our body, is designed exclusively for each of us, so they are all different, although under the same concept: two cavities through which the air at

nostrils and that are divided by the nasal septum, that cartilage that is in the middle and that gives our nose its shape.

Which of the following types of nose is yours?

The shape of our septum, its extension, its width, its height, the opening of our nostrils and the size of these are some of the characteristics that define our nose and by which we can group the different types of nose.

There are those who think that some types of nose are better than others, due to beauty standards, and decide to undergo surgery to change it; but the truth is that each of these types is absolutely beautiful, everything in each nose is perfect and has a reason for being, which is why it says a lot about where we come from, our geographical location and our ancestors.

For example, the upturned nose of people living in northern Europe is the result of migration to colder areas and the evolutionary process that these people had, in which the nose was adapting to be able to breathe and acclimatize the icy northern air without hurting your lungs.

Well, these are the different types of nose that we can find in the world.

1. Aquiline or Roman nose

The aquiline nose is characterized by being thin and having a pronounced bridge in which the septum curves towards the tip, so when we see it in profile it resembles the beak of an eagle, hence its name. Although some find it unattractive, the aquiline nose gives people who have it a distinctive touch. We see it in both men and women and there are studies that affirm that 4.9% of the population have this type of nose.

2. Greek nose

Another type of nose that takes its name from ancient civilizations, the Greek nose takes its name from the similarity of its shape to those we see in Greek sculptures. It is characterized by having a suitable and classic proportion for the face. Its bridge is completely straight and its nostrils are simple making it a neutral nose type.

3. Flat or button nose

It's about those noses that look shorter because its bridge is short and its nostrils open to the sides, in some cases much more than in others depending on our race, for example. It is wider in people with African features while it is shorter in people with Mongolian or Asian features.

4. Small nose

As its name indicates very well and worth the redundancy, they are small size noses. Its length is less than that of the other types of nose and it can end with a tip slightly upwards and somewhat rounded or blunt.

5. Upturned or upturned nose

This is one of the types of nose that girls look for when they visit the surgeon. The turned up nose is very attractive because its bridge or septum begins straight and curves slightly upward at the tip. It is a very typical nose of European countries, especially those from the north, do you remember the story we told you earlier? Studies indicate that 22% of the world's population has this type of nose.

6. Nubian or broad nose

This is another type of nose that gets its name from the geographic region in which we see it most, in this case, Nubia, Sudan. They are noses that start with a straight and thin septum and widen as it gets closer to the tip, where the widest part is.

7. Wavy nose

It is about those noses that take a wavy shape on the septumSometimes they take an S shape, some can look 'crooked' or a little deviated; in any case they are very distinctive noses that we easily recognize, if not, think of actor Owen Wilson.

8. Big thick nose

These noses are those that attract attention due to the size of all their parts, since their septum is large (not necessarily curved), its nostrils are wide and its tip is lumpy and rounded.
