Primark launches its collection ‘LGTBI Pride 2018’

Fashion firms are using their power to start a real change in trends and in the mentality of society. Not only use their designs to convince what will be in fashion each season, but some try to give visibility to social movements around the world.

This is the case, for example, of feminism. This empowering movement for women was brought to the catwalk by the prestigious luxury brand Dior. His t-shirts with messages became a revolution and even the ‘low-cost’ brands imitated their proposals by launching their protest t-shirts.

Recently, the English firm Burberry did the same with LGTBI groups, showing in its parade last February designs where the rainbow flag became the protagonist. The colors of LGBTI pride brought life to jackets, coats, vests and even scarves in Burberry's most identifiable checkerboard print.

they were highly applauded by the whole society and who have proudly look famous such as the model Cara Delevigne. Now, ‘low-cost’ firms have also joined this movement to give more visibility to this group. A clear example is the last proposal launched by Primark.

Following in the footsteps of Adidas, Nike or affordable brands like Pull & Bear or H&M, the Irish firm has designed the most demanding garments and accessories. Primark has created its collection ‘Pride 2018’in collaboration with the foundation to support the LGTBI collective ‘Stonewall’.

In this sense, already in stores you can find some designs such as printed t-shirts or accessories such as bracelets, glasses or stickers, all of them with phrases supporting the collective and with prints full of Colour. 20% of all proceeds will go to to the ‘Stonewall’ organization to help eradication of homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in various communities.

The clone that promises to sweep stores

But one of the most significant garments of the entire Primark collection will be released next fall-winter season. Versioning the eye-catching rainbow colored Burberry padded coat, the ‘low-cost’ firm will launch its own clone.

It is a padded jacket with a high neck that stands out for having the representative rainbow colors of the LGTBI collective, —red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple— which faithfully recalls the acclaimed design of luxury. We shall wait until August to be able to find it in stores, but it will be a huge success judging by Burberry's.

In addition, another great point in favor, in addition to its design to give visibility to the group, is its price. Burberry's down padded jacket is currently sells for 1,750 euros. But in Primark is scheduled to be sold for a price that does not exceed 25 euros, an opportunity to join the ‘Pride 2018’.
