Family team for success

When we hear about the world of sports or business, the word team comes up very often. And a team is made up of people, who are the ones who make the successes of any organization possible. However, we go out into the street and things may not appear that way; It is no secret that one of the most visible signs of the many problems we are having as a society is excessive individualism.

Both things seem contradictory; every time we want more personal autonomy, but our mouths also fill with expressions such as: “I am part of a team ”,“ success belongs to the team ”, which leads us to a complicated balance that hinders our own existence. Y To achieve those successes of which we claim to be part, the so-called 5 c's are referred to, which every team must have to achieve results. They are well known, namely: Commitment, Communication, Coordination, Trust, Complementarity.

Breaking individualistic dynamics in the family

It is perhaps in the conjugal and family environment where this dichotomy (individualism versus team) is most palpable

We want to be under a protective umbrella of something solid, but at the same time we are not willing to allow our freedom to be undermined. It is sometimes difficult to show that the family is a team, a group of people who have common goals and set goals to achieve them.

And yet, it is possibly the place where the 5 c's have the greatest capacity to empower and achieve visible and beneficial results for each of the members of the family unit. Why? Let's analyze the 5 c's one by one.

1 Commitment

Nothing in life can be done satisfactorily without a minimum commitment. Everything that you do in a forced or non-chosen way can lead to the accomplishment of things in a trivial way and in no way beneficial for yourself and for an organization. According to Lehman "commitment transforms a promise into reality, it is an action higher than words, it is the daily triumph of integrity over skepticism."

In a family organization it is necessary that its members feel comfortable and happy at home, committing to achieve coexistence agreements that represent a benefit for all its members, even being able to renounce something personal. In some way, each of the members of the family nucleus is responsible for the rest and this is only achieved if the general commitment is based on a personal commitment to oneself. And this commitment must be eternal.

2. Communication

In a hyper-connected world at a technological level, the paradox arises that every time it is more difficult for us to have human communication in a natural way. In a relationship with a partner, marriage or family, fluid, positive and active communication is key to strong and long-lasting relationships. And that communication or effective dialogue is born from the base, from the beginning of the couple relationship. A couple that dialogues from the beginning will be a couple prepared for communication with their descendants.

Babies must be given confidence in communication and dialogue from the cradle. Active listening, a good job of empathy, an absence of outrageous criticism, using only that which is constructive, will allow a series of very necessary skills for life.

It is more and more palpable the great amount of isolation that is seen in family environments and that are a seed of conflicts that if they are not stopped in time they will lead to unwanted circumstances. But communication or conjugal dialogue is an art and as such, it must be learned, it must be matured, it must be managed and it must be evolved. Today's world needs, more than ever, great communicators, not to great masses, but in the you to you.

3. Coordination

The RAE defines coordination "as the action or effect of coordinating." When we talk about a team being coordinated, we talk about there being a process and use of interdependent strategies and patterns among its members to achieve common goals. For a team to have good coordination, you need someone to execute it, you need a leader.

In the family this role corresponds to the father and the mother, in equal parts and in unison. Means that are aware of the global needs of the group and that they are consistent with what they think, say and do.

The great leader does not give orders, simply his coherence allows him to be an example and, at the same time, produces respect, always seeks ambitious and realistic goals for himself and for the organization, seeking the maximum personal development of his members of it. That is why it is essential that the union of the father and the mother be strong, with clear rules and commitments. Only if the parents are strong, the family will be strong.

4. Confidence

The family is a community of people whose sense of belonging is based on invisible ties based on trust that promote a satisfying relationship. This will lead to a strong support base for situations that occur throughout everyday life.

Respect and accept each member of the family as they are, promote a space of freedom and effective communication, teach children a true freedom that leads them to find the principles that guide human nature itself, understand that freedom has some limits crossed which personal principles will be in danger, these are essential points in a relationship of trust family. It does not mean that the family solves all the problems, but it does give the guidelines for expressing and sharing them.

Trust is based on credibility and respectTherefore, the example of the father and mother solidly united, will allow the children a personal and social growth that allows them to believe in themselves and in the family.

5. Complementarity

A team is made up of a series of professionals who dominate a certain area because their qualities make it so. allow and, at the same time, are capable of supplying other members at specific times because they are also skilled at other areas. To achieve this, cohesion and personal and collective responsibility are necessary in the tasks to be carried out. In a family these elements are essential to create a positive and stimulating environment.

The division of household chores, putting the skills of each member at the service of others, sharing responsibilities and results, will lead to achieve results and family harmony in a fast, efficient and effective. It is also a way to begin to instill in the children from their earliest childhood the positive of these performances.
