Magna Grecia is called set of colonies that were established throughout the southern coasts of the Italian Peninsula
, in addition to the island of Sicily. Here, the Greeks of the various polis were creating a series of colonies, which, at first, depended in part on the Greek metropolises.Over the years they became independent because they would soon become rich and have enough power to be able to carry their own future. However, we have to say that the name of Magna Grecia was given by the Romans some time later to refer to the set of cities that were located to the south of their domains and that had a different speech from his.

When did the creation of the colonies in Greece begin?
We continue with the lesson on what Magna Graecia was, placing ourselves in the year 1050 BC C. when, according to old documentation, the first helena colony is created being the polis of Cumas. It seems that tradition tells that the rest of the polis that were created later gave it up, creating this same two more colonies with the passage of time, Neapolis and Dicearquía.

Thus, we must know that, during the first two, three generations they faithfully followed the Hellenic culture, but with the passage of time and relations with the Italian peoples themselves, it was getting richer, creating an acculturation by the two civilizations that would result in a new reality.
This can be seen without any problem in the Roman civilization, a people who drank directly from the Greek colonies. On the other hand, another example is their own etruscans which are considered by the Romans as their predecessors.
