Facebook's "happy couples" have low self-esteem

A study carried out by Brunel University in London states that projecting the happiness of the couple on a social network could indicate a low self-esteem and narcissism.

Constantly bragging about your partner on Facebook can indicate low self-esteem

Since Facebook It has burst into the lives of all of us, those of us who connect on a daily basis constantly see the status of our contacts updated. Some write about politics, some about their vacations, some give their opinion on life, and some constantly post about their love affair. Facebook statuses are an opportunity to show our face to the world and are an opportunity to express how well life is going and how happy we are (although in many cases this is not true).

People who suffer a low selfsteem they are more likely to post “how well they are doing as a couple” on their Facebook statuses. The study conducted by Brunel University found that their research subjects who scored low on their level self-esteem often brag about how well their relationship is doing to hide their low self-esteem themselves. Furthermore, narcissistic people also spend a lot of time trying to show off their "beautiful love relationship" (although the rest of us don't care at all).

Study data

The study used a sample of 555 subjects to examine the relationship between various personality traits of users and what they post on Facebook. In addition, they also analyzed the use that these people made of the social network. To carry out the research, tools provided by Amazon, and a dollar was paid to answer the survey.

As mentioned, the results show that people with low self-esteem are more likely to post statuses about their relationship with a partnerBut this study also concludes that narcissists post more about their successes, about their diet, and about their physical exercise. Therefore, they use Facebook to show their physical appearance in search of constant approval.

Psychologist Tara Marshall, a professor at Brunel University in London, argues: “It may seem strange that Facebook statuses reflect the personality traits of users. However, it is important to understand that people write about certain topics in your state because they are looking for “like” clicks and comments. In this way, they feel that they have more social approval.
