Why everyone needs a coach

Eight years ago, Bill Gates showed his position on coaching in a TED talk by pronouncing a key phrase: "Everybody needs a coach.". The reason he gave for making this statement is that, in his understanding, we all need that person who feedback, that gives us that vision about ourselves and what we do that leads us to improve in everything that we let's propose.

What seemed like one more phrase in another conference by this famous computer scientist, businessman and philanthropist, was the germ for the idea that no longer Only the greats of Silicon Valley needed a coach, but anyone at any time in his life should probably enlist the help of this professional.

Thus, the coach has emerged as the key figure of the 21st century to teach people to face new challenges and the new circumstances that arise. And together with the professionalization of the coach's work, reasons do not stop appearing that only ratify that famous statement that everyone needs it. Reasons that are as many and as diverse as there are different people and realities. We will try to define some of them below.

Coaching in the face of uncertainty

It took a global pandemic for many of us to realize the uncertainty in which we live. Nothing is assured, many circumstances can change around us overnight and we can't do anything to control them because they are so much bigger than us.

If we get carried away by that idea, we can panic and find ourselves paralyzed, overwhelmed by the situation. Precisely a coach can act in this area by preventing us from being swallowed up by those things that are beyond our control.

The professional coach provides the wonderful weapon of perspective in situations like these. It allows us to see ourselves from outside that special situation, understanding our role in them but, above all, making us discover our own tools that we have so as not to get stuck or gripped.

In this way, a coach teaches us to live, that is, to move forward despite the many moments of uncertainty that arise throughout a person's existence.

Coaching to get to know yourself better

It is surprising that we live in the time of greatest connection between people through all the options that technology makes available to us and, at the same time, it is one of the moments where we are least connected with ourselves.

It is increasingly common to hear people say "I'm lost, I don't know what to do with my life ..." and this is the result of that internal disconnection that has been implanted today. We know more about the wishes and desires of others for what is exposed on social networks than we do.

Through a coaching process a person can get back in touch with their own essence, that reason for living and being that is lost between the maremagnum of obligations and worries. And above all, through that re-connection make it possible for you to take out that potential that you have and that probably would also have been lost.

It is not an easy process, but the coach is capable of us to find again the compass that shows us the way to follow towards the destination that we want; In short, it is capable of making us take control of our life that we sometimes let go of without realizing it.

Coaching to evolve

One of the reasons why we need a coach is to be able to evolve in different planes of our life. How many people are still in a fictitious comfort zone that doesn't really do them any good just for fear of taking the step further. They focus on the "better known bad than good to know" thus lengthening a meaningless existence that they do not deserve.

We refer to those people who maintain a job that does not fill them even though they want and know that they need something more; or those people who extend a relationship in which there is hardly any love and respect because it is better to continue in that vicious circle rather than break everything into pieces to free themselves.

It is not that a coach helps you to find in yourself the courage and courage to make that change, but above all it allows you understand that this change is necessary in your life in order to evolve towards a better version of yourself and, ultimately, to be able to experience a fuller life.

Coaching to be happier

If a coach can make us learn to deal with external circumstances that influence us but that we cannot control; if it also allows us to focus our life taking advantage of our maximum potential; And if, on top of that, it provides us with the tools not to settle into a fictitious comfort zone, what this figure is achieving is something that we all continually yearn for: to be able to be happier in our day to day.

So looking at what coaching in general, and the coach in particular, can achieve in anyone, whatever the type of Person, it is clear that the statement that "everyone needs a coach" that Bill Gates made in his day, is most correct.

If you want to become the extraordinary figure of change that a coach is, we remind you that in D’Arte Human and Business School we train you to be it with all the guarantees and with maximum quality.
