The commune of Paris

In this new video from Unprofesor we will explain the commune of Paris.

To locate the commune of Paris; we meet at end of the XIX century, to the knights of the Franco-Prussian war (France against Prussia, the latter is the great winner) and the government of Napoleon III with his minister Thiers at the head, they sign a shameful peace treaty to France. This causes the Prussian armies to enter the heart of France, Paris to occupy it.

The people of Paris are not at all in agreement with the signing of this treaty and it is the people themselves (it arises from the base of the people) the desire and will to resist against that oppressor that are the Prussians. They rise up in arms, they know that on the Montmartre hill there are weapons and cannons and they intend to go there to distribute them to the people so that it is they who fight and resist the Prussian occupation of France. The general stationed in Montmartre, the first thing he does is ask his soldiers to dissolve all that town but the soldiers get on the part of the people and that is how the germ of the Paris commune emerges, the people are armed and can face the invaders Prussians. The city council and all the forms of government of Paris are in the hands of an assembly of citizens chosen between all the town or proletariat. Thus, we have that on March 28, 1871 the commune of Paris was created.

The first time the people or proletariat has power. Thiers he has to go into exile (he does not go very far, he stays in Versailles where the aristocracy is) to try to recover Paris. He will get it on May 28 of the same year. The commune itself lasts very little but its importance is enormous since it is the first time that the people realize that they can govern themselves.
