Glucose catabolism: Krebs cycle
In this video I will explain the Krebs cycle.
The Krebs cycle is the second step of the cellular respiration, either aerobic or anaerobic. It can be done by both eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells.
The Krebs cycle it starts from Acetyl CoA. Acetyl CoA is a two-carbon compound that comes from a modification undergone by pyruvic acid, the product of glycolysis.
The result of the Krebs cycle It is to produce a little ATP, enough producing power in the form of NADH and FADH2, and to generate a waste product that is CO2.
To learn more about the pyruvic acid oxidation process and the regeneration of oxaloacetic acid, you can watch the video.
In the video you can also see the result of the total balance of the Krebs cycle, which gives us more energy than the balance of glycolysis.
In the video you will be able to understand better the Krebs cycle .. In addition, if you are not sure you can continue practicing with problems of this type you can do the printable exercises with their solutions that I have left you on the web. Good luck in your studies!
