Coenzymes ATP and NAD: obtaining energy
In this video I will explain the coenzymes ATP and NADH, the reducing power.
The objective of any organism is to obtain energy from the external environment to carry out its functions for living. Get energy through the sun, or chemical processes, to obtain:
- Mechanical energy, to move me.
- Thermal energy, to warm me.
- Chemical energy, to transmit nerve impulses, for example.
Energy is not destroyed, it is only transformed, for this we have enzymes, in charge of making this change:
Enzyme:
- Apoenzyme
- Cofactor:
* Inorganic
* Organic = Coenzyme: ADP + Pi = ATD / NAD + H = NADH
Processes:
- ADP - ATP (Substrate level phosphorization)
- ATP - ADP (Hydrolysis)
- NAD + - NADH (Reduction)
- NADH - NAD + (Oxidation). ATP acts as a store, and NADH acts as a transporter.
In the video you will be able to understand better the coenzymes ATP and NADH, the reducing power. In addition, if you are not sure you can continue practicing with problems of this type you can do the printable exercises with their solutions that I have left you on the web. Good luck in your studies!
