Education, study and knowledge

Psychologist María Morna González Vera (Guayaquil)

For 13 years I have been professionally dedicated to helping patients both in private practice and in a public institution. I divide my professional life into these two areas and this enriches both tasks. In the private practice I dedicate myself fundamentally to the emotional problems of everyday life, that is, of ordinary people. By this I mean stress, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, etc., mostly mood disorders, as well as ability problems social. Currently the most recommended and effective therapy for this type of disorder is Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy, in which I I trained and I continue to update myself to have the necessary tools that allow me to offer each patient a solution to their difficulty. I also specialized in HIV/AIDS, where I perform the other part of my work activity. This encompasses the deep knowledge of the pathology, its ways of dealing with the diagnosis and also the treatment, since it is currently chronic. Along with this I worked in the LGTBIQ community. This also led me to internalize sexual diversity and human rights.

I have a degree in Psychology from the National University of San Luis, Argentina. I have 4 years of training in cognitive behavioral psychotherapy at the Center for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in Buenos Aires. At the same time, I carried out research on coping skills with antiretroviral treatment in patients with HIV. I have been working and training in HIV for 13 years. I have also trained on issues related to the LGTBIQ population and sexual diversity. I also did a year in sports psychology.

I am a very empathetic person. I like my profession and I strive to develop it optimally, giving everything I have learned to my patients. I like to listen without judging. I strive so that the patient feels comfortable and can express himself freely, so that together we can find possible solutions. I seek that the therapeutic space be a pleasant environment where the patient can expand and resolve her conflicts. For those who wish to contact me, I recommend doing so through WhatsApp for easier communication when coordinating a meeting.
