Stars are made of very hot gas, mainly from hydrogen and helium, although in its interior we also find small amounts more of elements such as carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and iron.

And as for their beautiful, shimmering luster, it originates from within their cores, where they burn hydrogen to turn it into helium. Some questions that we have all asked ourselves at some point in our lives and that science again answers.

However, scientific experiments go further and even manage to create the matter of which stars are composed. A group of researchers from the United States Department of Energy, in California, (the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center), has managed to create, with the help of the most powerful X-ray laser in the world, a small piece of matter at 2 million degrees Celsius.

It is the first time that it is achieved recreate the material that stars are made of, that is, an incredibly hot dense matter. Most surprising of all, the process took less than a billionth of a second.

An experiment that has been possible thanks to the unstoppable advances in technology, which manage to clear up many doubts about the great enigmas of our universe, as in this case, the matter of which stars are composed. A question that we have all asked ourselves at some point in our lives, especially during childhood, and that thanks to latest astronomical technologies, we get to answer.
