Product and division of monomials
In this video I will explain how to do the product (or multiplication) of monomials and division (or quotient) of monomials. In the video we will see different operations:
- monomial multiplied by a number: the coefficients are multiplied by one side and then the literal parts. Since the second number is not a monomial, we will use it as if it were a 1.
- product or multiplication of monomials: We will multiply coefficient by coefficient and literal part by literal part. To do the multiplication of the literal part, we will leave the same unknown and add the exponents.
- square of a monomial (or multiply a monomial by itself): we will multiply the coefficients and then the literal part. To do this, we will leave the same literal part and add the exponents, which will be the same as multiplying the exponent by two.
- division of monomials: We will divide the first coefficient between the second and the first literal part by the second. To divide the literal part we will leave the same unknown and subtract the exponents.
All this explanation you will understand better in the video since I explain examples of each section. Also, if you want to practice with Product exercises and division of monomials you can do the printable exercises that I have left you on the web. I hope they help you!
