What is the decimal system

Welcome to unProfesor.com, in this math class we are going to teach you what is the decimal system, a positional and additive system.

In mathematics, the decimal system is a method of positioning numbers. It was developed by Indian mathematicians. Later the Arabs introduced it in Europe, where it received the name of the Arabic numeral system.

The symbols are: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 the first natural numbers, with which we can construct any number.

We will apply it to the metric decimal system, very similar to the numbering system, with the following measurements:

  • Length
  • Mass
  • Ability
  • Area
  • Volume

Zero has no value by itself, but only place value, that is, because of the place it occupies.
