Calculate the area of a triangle that forms a line and the axes
In this video I will explain a specific exercise on equations of the line. Is about calculate the area of a triangle that forms a line and the coordinate axes.
To do this, we will start from the explicit equation of the line and if we do not have it, we will pass the general equation to the explicit one. Then we will find two points on the x coordinate axis and find the y's. Once we have the points we can draw the line on the coordinate axis and we will see which triangle is formed. To finish, we will apply the formula for the area of a triangle: base times height between two. And we will have the area of a triangle that forms a line and the axes.
To better understand this type of exercise, watch the video that from an example will be much easier. Also, if you want to practice with exercises similar to the one I have taught you in today's class, you can do the printable exercises with their solutions what's on the web.
