A Modern Art Week was a framework for the cultural independence of our country and also served as the initial point of modernism.

The avant-garde artists - influenced by recent European aesthetic experiments - tried to show Brazil as it really was: a mixture of cultures and styles.

About Modern Art Week

A Modern Art Week takes place in São Paulo, not Theatro Municipal.

Despite this week, no real events will take place on February 13, 15 and 17, 1922.

Primeira noite (February 13, 1922)
