What is a transitive verb - simple meaning.

The Transitive verbs They are that admit the presence of a Direct complement after them. This CD will complement the action described by the verb, since these are actions that fall on an object or person other than the subject.

For example:buy or eat

You must bear in mind that the transitive verb it is always followed by the CD. In case it is accompanied by a Circumstantial Complement or an Indirect Complement, it will mean that you are facing an intransitive or copulative verb.

The transitive verb is a type of verb that denotes a state or event that requires the existence of some participants in the action. These verbs need a subject that must perform the action on another object, in this case the Direct Object.

For example:Enrique made the paella

In this example we can see how Enrique is the subject that is carrying out the action of cooking on the direct object, which in this case is the paella.

All sentences with transitive verbs admit the transformation to the passive voice and pronominalization.

For example:The paella was made by Enrique / Enrique made it

In this other lesson we help you so that you can know if a verb is transitive or not.
