Psychologist German Toro Fernandez

Hello!! I am Germán Toro Fernández, graduated in psychology from the University of Barcelona with a clinical mention. I have recently completed training for the diagnosis and therapeutic approach in Dual Pathology. My field of professional intervention is drug addiction; I have worked with Proyecto Hombre since 2012 until last April 2019. I consider myself a person who is very committed to my responsibility as a therapist and equally committed to promoting change and empowering the people I work with. On a personal level I consider myself a very empathetic, friendly, and responsible person; characteristics that, of course, transfer to the professional context.

My most outstanding quality is my innate way of working with people, of treating them, of addressing them, of infecting them with a more positive and hopeful look, of destigmatizing them. As a relevant anecdote I will say that Proyecto Hombre hired me as soon as I finished 1st in Psychology, -provided I completed my training-, they also offered me internal training. They liked my way of relating and positioning myself with patients. I honestly believe that I combine demandingness and flexibility very well when working with the people I deal with.

I have a lot of experience in conducting: therapy groups, individual therapy, special groups (designed to work on areas and/or difficulties more specific), in the planning of therapeutic work in the short, medium and long term, I also have extensive background in therapy groups for relatives of people who suffer from an addiction, in carrying out guided reflections, educational dynamics and informative sessions for the prevention of relapses or the impact of narcotic drugs In the health. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the approach I use to do my job.
