+ than 80 examples of PLAIN words with and without accent marks
In Spanish we find different types of words according to their stress. This accentuation is the stressed syllable, that is, the one that receives the force when it is pronounced in a word. The accentuation will tell us how we should pronounce each one of them and in some occasions this will be represented graphically by an orthographic accent or accent. In this lesson from a TEACHER we are going to show you plain words with accent and without accent with examples so you can better understand them and know when they are placed.

What are plain words.
The plain words are those that have a stress on the penultimate syllable. That is, the force of the voice will always make this point. Plain words are also known as grave. Most of them do not have an accent, but there are exceptions that you must know to be able to place it correctly when you write. So you should always apply the following rules:
- Plain words are not accented unless don't end in vocal, on n or in s. It is a very simple formula to remember that will help you to know at all times if a plain word has an accent or not.
- Plain words ending in s that they go preceded by another consonant.
- On the other hand, those plain words that end in a hiatus formed by an open vowel and a closed one. In these cases, the closed vowel will be the one that contains the accentuation force and therefore must be marked.
As you can see, you only have to remember three rules when it comes to knowing whether a word has an accent or not.
