Psychologist María León Villar
My name is María, I work from an eclectic approach in which various therapeutic currents are integrated. Each person is unique and unrepeatable and the method to choose will depend on their needs. I do individual psychotherapy for adults. I combine tools to treat the symptoms that occur at a certain time, addressing the person in depth, in a global way, trying to restore their balance and freedom. I use hypnosis in some cases. I also work at a Group level. Group therapy takes place in a protected space in which to explore, learn and share. A way to know yourself and improve interpersonal relationships.
Despite adapting my methodology to the individual needs of each person, I usually work with techniques such as hypnosis or EMDR with very good results. EMDR is used mainly to treat trauma. It is indicated in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder and for other types of problems (chronic stress, abandonment, separations...) Its name is the acronym Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Eyepieces). This technique was developed by Francine Shapiro in 1987. Based on the hypothesis that human beings have an innate system that is physiologically oriented toward health. She studied the way our system would activate, naturally, during REM sleep. Through rapid eye movements, the synchronization of the cerebral hemispheres would be favored, for example which, during the night we could elaborate, through sleep, the events that we have experienced throughout the day. We try to recreate these movements in the consultation, favoring relaxation and integration of experienced situations that may be affecting them in the present.
I do individual and couples psychotherapy. As tools I use hypnosis and EMDR. I also do group therapy, aimed at grief and to treat shyness and socialization problems. I also include tools like the Enneagram.
