First generation
- José Arcadio Buendía: Family father and leader founder of Macondo, the city. He was a strong-willed man and possessed a great imagination and curiosity by which he made many inventions. - José Arcadio (son): She resembled her father in terms of physical strength and impulsive character. She marries Pilar Ternera with whom she will have a son whom she will not recognize. He will end up working and leaving with the circus and will return years later and marry Rebeca. She ends with a tragic outcome being killed.
- Rebeca Montiel:Adoptive daughter of the Buendía family. She arrived identifying herself as the daughter of another relative that no one could remember and asking her to be welcomed. She was slow to speak, at first she did not want to communicate and she escaped to the patio to eat dirt. She will end up marrying José Arcadio Jr. and after he dies she will lock herself in her house without going out again. Her nephew, Aureliano, will be in charge of discovering her decrepit and with a rifle in hand sitting in her chair.
- Aureliano Buendía:Second son from the Buendía family and the first person to be born in Macondo. Intellectual and philosophical, when he is little he is attributed divination skills. He is shy and lonely, he becomes interested in Alchemy and ends up marrying Pilar Ternera who also becomes the wife of José Arcadio. They will have a child: Aureliano Jose, and will later marry Moscote Remedy, a girl who dies young. Aureliano will end up being a colonel joining the liberal army leading at least 32 civil wars and having at least 17 children with different women. As he gets older, he assumes that he is incapable of loving with his heart, in him the feeling of loneliness is purely embodied.
Third generation
- Arcadio:Son of José Arcadio and Pilar Ternera. Raised by the Buendías he becomes the leader of Macondo although he ends up becoming a dictator and they shoot him.
- Aureliano José:Son of Colonel Aureliano and Pilar Ternera. He follows in the footsteps of his father at first, accompanying him to some wars, but ends up abandoning the fight to return to his aunt's side. Amaranth with which he falls in love. He is killed by a gunshot.
- The Aurelians:17 children of Colonel Aureliano Buendía. They came to Macondo one day with all their mothers looking for Úrsula to be baptized. They all died the same night, shot in the middle of the forehead.
Fourth generation
Made up of the three children that Arcadio Buendía and his wife Sofía de la Piedad will have.

- Jose Arcadio Segundo: Twin brother of Aureliano Segundo. As he grows older he becomes more interested in studying the Melquiades manuscript. She will die together and with her brother at the same time.
- Aureliano Segundo: Character impulsive and loud. He will marry Fernanda del carpio but he will never leave his lover Petra Cotes. He will be rich and wasteful and die of congestion along with his wife.
Fifth generation
- Reneta Remedios: Better known as Meme, she is raised with authority but she will end surrendering by rebellion to Mauricio Babilonia. She is partying and will give birth to Aureliano Babilonia. She will be sent to Europe for her mother.
- Jose Arcadio: Raised to be Pope You will end up wasting his money and taking advantage of the children. She will end up being murdered for three children who were the victims of it.
- Amaranta Ursula: Small and active, the most similar to Úrsula Iguarán. She will grow up with Aureliano without suspecting that she is her nephew, she will marry Gastón but she falls in love with Aurelian Babylon with whom she will maintain a incestuous romance and she will give birth to a boy with a pig's tail. She will bleed to death in childbirth.
Sixth generation
