Tricks to differentiate the direct object and the indirect object

In this video I am going to explain some tricks to differentiate the direct object and the indirect object.

1.FUNCTION: Myths VS Directivity

CD: Thing or person on which the action of the verb falls DIRECTLY (the thing or person with whom we do something)

CI: Recipient of the action expressed by the verb that is received from the CD.

2. PASSIVE:

CD goes to S. PECIENT.

CI STAYS THE SAME

3. REPLACEMENT CD (LO, LA, LOS, LAS) - CI (LE, LES): LEISM allowed >> CONFUSION

Trick: LA

SUBSTITUTION:

  • CD >> LA, LAS, LOS, LO / LE
  • CI: LE / LES

4. HE IS ONLY FOR CI when we find CD + CI

LE / LES >> SE

5. IN OR REFLECTIVE AND RECIPROCAL: we can easily confuse them

TRICK

  • Reflexive / Reciprocal alone without object on which the action of the verb falls: PRONOUN >>>> will be CD.
  • Reflexive / Reciprocal with the object on which the action of the verb falls, that is, transitive with CD: PRONOUN >>>> will be CI.
