What are loans
In this video I will explain another of the methods that our language has to increase its lexicon, the loans.
Loans They are all the words that the Spanish lexicon has taken from other foreign languages in past and recent times. The reasons can be economic, political, social, etc. or by necessity since we lack a term to designate something.
Terminology: Be careful not to confuse loan and neologism
Classification:
- Origin Anglicisms, Arabisms, Lusisms, Italianisms, etc.
- Seniority: Loans historical (pre-Roman substratum, cultisms, Germanisms, Arabisms) and loans recent / neologisms(Anglicisms, Gallicisms).
