What are renewable energies

Since the beginning of time, human societies have been seeking better energy training because the use of these facilitated daily life, thereby improving the quality of life. In this lesson from a TEACHER we bring you a summary of What are renewable energies Thanks to which we will see the definition of these and what is more important how many exist today and what benefit it can provide to society.

Definition of renewable energy.

Renewable energies are those that are obtained from sources that are found in nature and are also inexhaustible, because among other cases these can be regenerated without any problem making it very beneficial for humanity.

In this way we will always find energy without having to fight to obtain another type of combustion, which, if they are perishable in time, such as oil or coal.

Types of renewable energy.

Inside our lesson on What are renewable energies, we must mention those that are currently known and within these those that have the most weight in society.

Hydraulics

This energy is obtained when the water comes into contact with an electrical generator that has been placed at the bottom of a dam. The water, falling with great force, sets the generator turbines in motion, creating electrical energy, which is stored in containers. In our country, approximately 15% of the electricity collected comes from here.

Within this type of energy we can also find the marine energy, which is located at the mouth of the rivers and in the places where the most waves break, since it is these that drive the generators, which create electrical energy.

Thermal

Well known are the solar panels found throughout much of the world geography, they are responsible for collecting the heat given off by the sun that serves to generate water later used in domestic buildings, and is even used in industry, especially in heating and even refrigeration.

Wind

It is obtained by the force of the wind thanks to some mills placed in the places where it is windier. The wind turns the blades that, when moving, make a generator start to move, generating electricity that is stored. It is one of the cleanest energies and from which more energy is extracted today.

Biomass

This energy is obtained by use of plant photosynthesis on decomposing organic matter, which generates a large amount of carbon dioxide, which is stored in containers for later energy use.

The environmental impact from renewable energies.

Although at first we found that this type of energy can be the solution to the scientific advance of our society, we must know that, on some occasions, we can be subjecting our environment to great stresses that can cause changes in it.

That is why we will begin by talking about the wind power that, although it is one of the cleanest renewable energies, at present even environmentalists are against it because it is completely changing the landscapes due to the large number of mills that can be found throughout the geography.

The biomass, for its part, generates a large amount of carbon dioxide which, in large quantities, can generate the opening of new holes in the ozone layer, making it much easier for UVA rays to enter.

Within our lesson on what are renewable energies, we have to stop at the use of the hydraulic energy that is changing the systems of our rivers, due to the large number of dams that have been built. In the same way, the various actions on these, is causing a great salinization in this, which is why many species may be in danger of extinction.

The problematic in the implantation of these energies.

To conclude with our lesson on what renewable energies are, we have to say that these, on many occasions, are held back by the governments themselves since their implementation involves a large capital outlay since to put this type of energy into operation, the costs are very high.

That is why today non-renewable energies continue to be used since they are much cheaper for their extraction and their set-up and the maintenance of the devices of these are much less expensive. Even so, little by little, great progress is being made, with Spain being one of the countries where the most solar, wind and hydro energy consumes from all over the world given that weather conditions are favorable.
