What a good dishwasher detergent depends on

There are several formats of dishwasher detergents: tablets, gel or powder. However, the most popular are the first two, which allow the existence of the "all in one" detergent. These types of detergents for dishwashers combine the detergent or cleaner, rinse aid and salt in one tablet or bag.

Many brands now offer this type of product, so it can be difficult to know which to choose or which may be more beneficial for our dishwasher. For this reason, the Organization of Consumers and Users has analyzed various detergents for dishwashers in order to develop a ranking with the best products.

For their analysis, they first took into account the effectiveness of the product with different types of stains, including the most difficult ones. They make an assessment of the drying of the dishes and the shine left by each product, negatively evaluating the products that leave those annoying white marks. They also take into account the environmental impact of each product, be it that of the ingredients of each detergent, or of the same container that contains them.

From 18 OCU-rated dishwasher detergents, only 6 score above 50 points. Most are considered of medium quality, except for the one that ranks first as best dishwasher detergent on the market, which with a score of 66 points falls into the category of good quality. This is the list of the best dishwasher detergents that you can currently buy on the market according to the OCU, which have scored above 50 points.

1. Somat Oro 12 functions

The best dishwasher detergent you can buy is Somat brand detergent. With 66 points it falls into the category of good quality. The package of 40 doses can be purchased for 6.89 euros, costing 0.21 euros per dose. While it scores low on environmental impact and labeling, its effectiveness in dishwashing is proven.

2. W5 All-in-1 Pickups (Lidl)

Another of the best dishwasher detergents is this private label that can be found at the Lidl supermarket chain. With a score of 64 points, in this case the quality is already average. This product comes in pill format and can be purchased for 3.99 euros for a pack of 40 doses, at the modest price of 0.10 euros each dose.

3. Fairy Platinum All in One

Fairy is one of the most popular brands of detergents for the dishwasher, but it remains in third position in the ranking prepared by the OCU. Its presentation is in pills type and the package with 45 doses starts at 11.37 euros. This product scores 59 points and is of medium quality.

4. Finish Powerball Quantum Lemon

The Finish brand also presents its dishwasher detergent in tablet format, at 9.90 euros the package of 40 doses. Its score is 54 and it is also of medium quality.

5. Bosque Verde Pastillas All in 1 (Mercadona)

Another private label product makes the list of best detergents for dishwashers, with a total of 54 points. The all-in-1 pills from Bosque VerdeMercadona's white brand of cleaning products, the 26 doses offered in its package cost 2.70 euros.

6. Finish Powerball Quantum

In sixth position another Finish product is placed. This time the Powerball Quantum detergent version but without the lemon scent. The product comes with almost half the dose and its price is a little lower. The 27-dose package costs 7.49 euros.
