Construction of polygons given the side
In this video I will show you the construction of polygons given the side.
To be able to find all the sides of a polygon If we have only been given the distance of one of the sides, we have to use a compass and a ruler or square and bevel.
Let's imagine that we want to find the rest of the sides of an equilateral triangle and we are told that one of the sides is 2 cm (line AB).
What we have to do to find point "C" is to put the point of the compass at point "A" and make a half circle from point "B". Then we do exactly the same but putting the point of the compass at point "B" and making the circumference from "A". At the point where the two half circles intersect is where we will have point "C" which will be the other vertex of the equilateral triangle. Then it will only be necessary to join the points to form the triangle.
In the video I explain in detail the different ways of to find the sides of different polygons. Also, if you want to practice what you have learned in today's video, you can do the printable exercises with their solutions that I have left you on the web.
