First of all we must talk about the historical figures of Mexico in the pre-Hispanic stage, that is, before the arrival of the European colonizers. These characters are usually less well known than those of closer times, all of them being members of the original peoples of the area.
Cuauhtémoc
He was the last of the greats Aztec political leaders

Jose Maria Morelos
Nicknamed the Servant of the NationHe was a military and religious born in the Viceroyalty of New Spain, being one of the most important characters of the second stage of the Mexican Revolution. His great actions in the south and center of the country, where he conquered a huge amount of territories, made him one of the greatest enemies of the royalists, who after years of struggle managed to arrest and shoot.
Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla
He was a priest and revolutionary of the Viceroyalty of New Spain whose actions in the so-called Grito de Dolores started the Mexican Revolution. He is considered the most important character of the first stage of the revolution, due to his importance in the military and political command of the revolutionaries.
Ignacio Allende
It was one of the main military of the Mexican revolutionaries, fighting alongside Hidalgo during the first years of war, and replacing him in command after his death. It is said that after his death his head was displayed for a decade, as a message to all those who sought independence. Like many of the Mexican soldiers Allende had fought in the New Spain army, changing sides at the beginning of the revolution because he shared many thoughts with the insurgents.
Antonio de Mendoza and Pacheco
He was a Knight of the Order of Santiago, military and politician who was appointed as the first viceroy of New Spain during the first 15 years of the viceroyalty. It is said that the main reason for his appointment as viceroy is because of the government that he carried out in Granada, since the Spanish crown considered that both regions had similarities.

Benito Juarez
Benito Juárez was a Mexican politician of Zapotec origin that he was president of the American country on numerous occasions. Juárez was a very important character in one of the most important stages of Mexico, being responsible for the consolidation of Mexico as an independent state. Much of his ideology was born in his exile to Cuba, where his relationship with the Americans made him see clear the social and liberal measures that he should establish in Mexico.
Emiliano Zapata
One of the most important soldiers of the Mexican Revolution, being the leader of the Liberation Army of the South and one of the greatest examples of the importance of the peasants in this stage of Mexican history. His social ideas were vital to the measures taken in the new constitution, although like other revolutionary Mexican military leaders he was excluded from the Constituent Congress.
Francisco Villa
Nicknamed as Pancho Villa was one of the heads of the Mexican Revolution, being commander of the Northern Division, a group formed mainly by rural people who for 9 years kept the Mexican troops in check. Before his entry into the army he was the leader of a band of brigands, demonstrating already at this stage his great leadership that would later serve him to be one of the greatest military leaders in the history of Mexico.
Antonio López de Santa Anna
One of the most important Mexican politicians de history, being President of Mexico on many occasions and holding the position of dictator for life for some years. His time in office depends a lot on the sources consulted, since some speak of up to eleven presidencies while other sources say that there were only six of his governments.
