In this new video from Unprofesor we will explain "The Nazca lines. New discoveries". The Nazca lines. New discoveries. The Nazca lines are ancient geoglyphs found in the Jumana pampas that are in the Nazca desert. They are composed of Hundreds of figures that include designs as simple as straight lines to complex zoomorphic, cytomorphic and geometric figures that appear traced on the earth's surface. Well... what is a geoglyph? Geoglyphs are figures built on the slopes of hills or on plains, using the technique of adding stones with dark tonalities as a mosaic to contrast on a lighter background characteristic of the desert. Namely, we have the desert and by adding or subtracting stones, a series of drawings with human, plant, animal or simply geometric shapes are formed. These drawings or Nazca lines appear in the Nazca desert (currently Peru), the Nazca culture flourished during the years 100 d. C and 600 d. C. As we say, they are drawn on the ground and have a width of between 40 and 210 cm. They are spread over
an area of 520 square km. There are many theories but the most significant are those that say that it could be ancient roads, centers of worship or even an immense calendar. One of the most sensible theories says that the lines would function as looms and the geometric figures a protective character.
