Causes and consequences of the Balkan War. The Balkan War were two wars that took place on the Balkan Peninsula in the early 20th century. Not to be confused with the wars of the former Yugoslavia that took place in the same area but at the end of the 20th century, beginning of the 21st century.
The Balkan wars faced the various territories of the Balkan Peninsula against the Ottoman Empire that it was, since the SXV, who dominated those territories. Well, what were the causes of these wars? To begin with, at the end of the 19th century, in 1878, the Ottoman Empire already lost various territories on the peninsula. As could be areas of Greece, Bosnia Herzegovina and some areas of Montenegro. Also at the beginning of the 20th century, Russia wanted to expand and regain the influence that it had once had over the Balkan region. The final lace was, in 1911 when Italy defeated the Ottoman Empire and took Libya.
. That is, the Balkan states joined because they saw that the Ottoman empire was very unstable and was being very weak. They saw their time to fight for their independence. In other words, these Balkan states (Greece, Serbia, Montenegro and Bulgaria) come together to confront the Ottoman Empire and regain their former sovereignty. In fact, they agreed that Montenegro should provoke the Ottoman Empire to respond other Balkan states would unite (through the pacts they had signed) against the empire Ottoman. Thus it was and thus it was also that the Balkan states achieved independence from the Ottoman Empire. To know the subject in more depth, do not miss the complete video on "Causes and consequences of the Balkan War"and practice with the exercises that we leave you next.
