Electron transport and oxidative phosphorylation
In this video I will explain oxidative phosphorylation or the electron transport chain.
Oxidative phosphorylation or the electron transport chain It is a fundamental process for both eukaryotes and prokaryotes to get energy. Without this process or glycosis and the Krebs cycle, we would get very little energy.
The electron transport chain It takes advantage of all the reducing power, all the NAH and FAH2, that is, everything that we have been producing in previous phases of catabolism (glycosis and Krebs cycle), stored in the cell. This reducing power is used in the last phase, oxidative phosphorylation.
- Phosphorylation: obtaining energy will be in the form of ATP, and it will occur through phosphorylation.
- Oxidative: the process by which I obtain the energy to phosphorize, will be by oxidizing.
We will also see where this process takes place, what it will produce and what its components are.
In the video you will be able to understand better oxidative phosphorylation or electron transport. In addition, if you are not sure you can continue practicing with problems of this type you can do the
printable exercises with their solutions that I have left you on the web. Good luck in your studies!
