Spelling rules for writing acronyms
In this video I will explain the spelling rules for writing acronyms.
- NUMBER:
- Orality: Representatives of / some / several / numerous NGOs ([oenejés])
- Writing: Representatives of the / some / several / numerous NGOs met in Madrid. >>*CDs, NGOs
- GENDER:
- Adopted from the word core: the IMF (the International Monetary Fund) / the OAS (the Organization of American States)
- Exception rule EL + Á- (tonic): “the AFE " Association of Spanish Footballers
• WRITING:
- No dots or spaces. Except: "annual report of the c.s.i.c. "
- In uppercase (OECD, DNI, ISO) and without accent; well, CIA.
- Digraphs Ch Y Ll: CCP, acronym for Communist Party of China.
- Italic for italic posts: DHLE Dictionary history of the Spanish language.
- Capital letters never hyphen at the end of the line.
- Hispanized acronyms: NATO- * NATO. Exception: Unesco, acronym for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization;CD ROM, acronym for Compact Disc Read-Only Memory; IRA Irish Republic Army.
