MULTIPLES of 8

Multiples of 8 - with examples

From a Professor we are happy to bring a new topic, which is related to others that have already been explained in our web portal. However, this lesson is much more specific; since we will deal exclusively with the number 8 and its multiples. To begin this topic, we are going to review some concepts such as the meaning of multiple and then present the multiples of 8 already entering the matter properly. Finally, we are going to provide you with a series of examples that explain what has been said in theory and show how to determine the numbers that are multiples of 8. Go for it!

What are multiples? Easy definition.

As we have said before, before talking about the multiples of 8, we will start by talking a little about the meaning of multiple. When speaking of a multiple number, it refers to a number that contains another a specified number of times. That is, a multiple number is the one that

is made up of another number an exact number of times.

If we talk about the number 2, for example, we can affirm that the number 10 is a multiple of 2; since 10 contains number 2, exactly 5 times. This is verified by carrying out a simple multiplication: 5 x 2 = 10.

As you can see, likewise, 10 is a multiple of 5; since the number 10 contains 5, exactly twice.

These brief examples suggest how to confirm whether one number is a multiple of another. In the next section we will review this in more detail so that you can review these types of basic concepts.

How to know if a number is a multiple of another.

As we have explained in the previous section, the examples shown briefly show how you can check if one number is a multiple of another.

This operation is performed by simple multiplication. For example, to know the multiples of the number 3, you must multiply the 3 by the other numbers.

  • For example: 3 x 2 = 6. With this simple multiplication, you can now confirm that the number 6 is a multiple of 3.
  • Another example: 3 x 3 = 9. Likewise, in this case you can affirm that the number 9 is a multiple of 3, because it contains it exactly 3 times.

Very good, since we have given you some clues about what a multiple number means and how to know them from a number determined, now we will explain the multiples of 8 and some examples that will help you visualize it best.

What are multiples of 8?

As we have said in previous lines, you already know how to identify a multiple number and how to calculate a multiple number of a specific number using a simple multiplication. This is how the procedure will be the same for number 8, which is the case that concerns us in this lesson from a Teacher.

So so you can calculate and know the multiples of the number 8, you must multiply it by the other numbers successively. So you can know what the multiples are and identify them more quickly.

Therefore, we proceed to perform the multiplications corresponding:

  • 8 x 2 = 16 (So 16 is a multiple of 8, since it contains it twice)
  • 8 x 3 = 24 (So we can say that 24 is a multiple of 8, because it contains it three times)
  • 8 x 4 = 32 (You can say that 32 is a multiple of 8, since it contains it four times within it)
  • 8 x 5 = 40 (So you know that 40 is a multiple of 8, because 40 contains 8 five times inside of it)
  • 8 x 6 = 48 (You can say that 48 is a multiple of 8, because it contains it six times)
  • 8 x 7 = 56 (You already know that 56 is a multiple of 8 and that it contains it seven times)
  • 8 x 8 = 64 (So the number 64 is a multiple of 8 because it contains it exactly eight times)
  • 8 x 9 = 72 (You can then affirm that 72 is a multiple of 8 and that it contains it nine times)
  • 8 x 10 = 80 (So you already know that 80 is a multiple of 8 because it contains it ten times)

In this case, as in the others in relation to multiples, we could continue to infinity. This is simply a brief sample that exemplifies how you can know the multiples of another number, in this case of the number 8.

Before finishing this lesson, we are going to leave you 2 exercises of multiples of 8 for you to test your knowledge. In the next section you will find the solutions:

  • 1) From the following list of numbers, indicate which are multiples of 8: 12, 16, 24, 28, 36, 40, 48, 58, 64, 74, 80, 90, 92
  • 2) How can you find the multiples of 8?

Solution of exercises multiples of 8.

Here is the solution for the two previous exercises:

  • 1) 16, 24, 40, 48, 64, 80
  • 2) By multiplying any whole number by 8, you can know the multiples of the same number 8

Exposed the above, about the multiples of the number 8, we encourage you as always from a Teacher, to consult any questions you have about this topic or another. In any case, you can visit our web portal to clarify any questions that may arise and thus be able to help you in your process.
