Comparison of fractions with different denominators

click fraud protection

In this video I will teach you how to do the comparison of fractions with different denominators. To the compare fractions we can know which is the largest and which is the smallest.

In order to compare fractions with different denominators We will have to look at which case we are in.

  • Case 1: fractions with different denominator and equal numerator: the one with the smallest denominator will be the largest. On the contrary, the one with the largest denominator will be the smallest.
  • case 2: Fractions with different denominators and different numerators: we will have to convert the given fractions into others with the same denominator. To do this, we will multiply the first fraction by the denominator of the second until it gives us a new fraction. Then we will multiply the second fraction by the denominator of the first to give us another new fraction. Once we have the two new fractions that will have the same denominator, we will be able to see which is the greater and which is the less.

If you watch the video you will understand much better how to do this
