Teach how to divide by two figures

In this video I will show you divide by two figures. Dividing by two figures is practically the same as dividing by a figure: you have to find a number that multiplied by the divisor gives the same number that is in the dividend. In the event that there is no such number, the closest one will be searched but without going over.

Remember that, as I explained in previous lessons about division, to divide is to distribute a total amount in equal parts, so we can say that division is in fact the opposite action to multiplication. To understand well what a division is, it is important to understand the idea of ​​"sharing", so it is very useful to use objects and try to distribute between different numbers people, in this case, once the concept of distributing things is understood, we can introduce the division of X objects between a two-digit number of people, that is, of the 10 to 99.

Doing a two-digit division is somewhat more complicated than doing a simple one-digit division, but it is not difficult at all. Before beginning this lesson on divisions, it is good to remember the basic elements of a division, since in the case of a two-digit division these are the same as in a simple division:

• Dividend: amount of objects that we want to distribute
• Divider: quantity that indicates the number of people, in this case two figures, among which we want to distribute the objects.
• Quotient: It is the exact number of objects that each person will have when we finish distributing them all equally.
• Rest: A figure that tells us if there is an object left over by distributing it equally among all people.

Another important thing to remember before starting the lesson is that a two-digit division can be exact (with the remainder equal to zero) or inaccurate (with the remainder other than zero).
