Modern art is made up of a wide variety of types or artistic movements., sometimes confusing the use of the term as it is used both to designate all those movements that arose between 1850 and the middle of the 20th century, as well as the most artistic expressions current. According to Art History theorists, modern art is a period that fluctuates between 1850 and the mid 50s of the 20th century, extending it to other scholars until the 1960s. The movement that begins this period is considered to be the Impressionism, Being the pop art the artistic expression that marks the start of contemporary art.

In general, within modern art we find very different movements, even confronted at times. However, they all agree on their break with the canons of classical art. Thus, artists no longer try to represent reality as it is, something common within academic art, and show us their own interpretation of it.
