What is a Poem?
What is a Poem? A poem is a composition of literary character with subjective meaning both for the one who performs it and for the one who interprets it. Although poetry usually captures nature or aesthetic feeling through the word in verse, it is also possible to find poetry in prose. A poem can express about life and its stages; it can tell a story or honor a person, a deity or something very particular about what surrounds us.
exist poems towards heartbreak, love, sadness, towards a mother, towards a pet that has died, towards nature and towards everything what is part of our environment and that in some way arouses feelings, attracts memories and stimulates the imagination. The poems usually have metaphors, analogies and other rhetorical figures and linguistic procedures that they narrate or mention something in a subtle and indirect way to achieve that aesthetic, ethereal and fluid end that is seeks. Greece and Rome were the first regions where poetry developed, becoming part of life daily life and the most outstanding social events and festivities of times before the era christian.

parts of the poem
A poem evokes an imaginative consciousness that depends on an individual's experience or emotional response. The expression of feelings and ideas of a poem, receives special attention to diction, meaning, rhythm and sound. The verses are measured by syllables. He meter It is the number of syllables per verse that a poem has; then when it is said that two verses have different meters it means that they have different measures. The metrics It is a set of systematic rules relating to the meter of verses and stanzas. That is, the metric refers to three parts: verse, stanza and poem. A verse is the statement that forms the unit of a poem. The set of lines is known as stanza, which usually fits to a measure throughout the entire poem. A stanza is usually made up of 4 lines, which is called a quatrain, but there are two lines. (couplet), of three so-called triplets, of 5 or quintilla, of 6 or sextet, of 8 or leaflets and of 10 verses or spinel. Rhythm refers to the patterns used to emphasize one word over another. Accentuating them creates a fluid and particular rhythm. Poems can also have sound patterns through rhyming or repeated letters in two words next to each other or in the same line that grab attention. (p. eg stain and night, where the set of c and h have a remarkable sound).

This type of poetry is usually short and written in the first person to imply that it is about the personal feelings of the creator of the piece. The themes can be love, death, struggle, sadness and other themes that are related to the context of the time. "La Elegía" by William Adolphe Bouguereau and "Madrigal" by Gutierre de Cetina, are examples of lyrical poetry.

Poetry and poem.
Although they are closely related, poetry is not the same as poem. A poem, as we have already seen, is the composition literary that meets certain aesthetic requirements, while poetry has various forms of expression; be it with words, with emotions, with movements, through songs, paintings or other forms of art. Poetry tries to impact the imagination or emotions of the recipient.
