The tilde is not a simple orthographic sign of decoration, but it is essential when writing in Spanish properly, since the tilde allows us to differentiate both morphologically and semantically words that, despite being written in the same way, syntactically mean and function as two different linguistic elements between Yes.

Focusing on the topic of this lesson, now let's see when you put an accent on TU. First of all, we have to be very clear that "tú" is the personal pronoun of the second person singular, and as such, it must always be accented.

Thus, in sentences like You love me less than I love you; What have you believed?; Only you and I go because my brother is sick and cannot come O well This that remains between you and me.

The word "you" challenges a second participant in speech, so it is working as the personal pronoun of the second person singular, which, in Spanish, must always be accentuated, since this is established by the Spelling of the Castilian language.

Now, the word "tu" does not always work as a second person singular personal pronoun, but rather, in Spanish, this word also allows us to indicate belonging from something, a characteristic or a thing, to a second person.

In other words, the accented "you" refers to a second person, while the "you" without an accent refers to possessions, belongings, things or characteristics of that same second person.

In this way, in sentences like I love your new haircut; I don't want to see your book in my room anymore or Your home is further away than mine, the word "you" must always be written without an accent, since it is, from the point of view morphological, of a determiner with possessive value, since it agrees in number with the noun to which accompanies.

Let's see it in the previous cases: "your new haircut", "your book" and "your house", which, when passing it to the plural, necessarily we will have to use the form "your", leaving the examples like this: "your new haircuts", "your books" and "your houses", respectively.

The first thing we have to think about is the meaning of the word; although it refers to the person or to the characteristics or belongings of said person. In the first case, we will have to accentuate it, while in the second we will not.

Also, as a little trick, we can try use the word in plural, and in the case that we use "tus", we already know that "you" is not written with an accent, while if the plural is "you" or "you" we will know that we are dealing with a personal pronoun of the second personal singular, and therefore, it is necessary to accentuate it graphically.
