Recognize sharp words
The sharp words are those that have the stressed syllable (the one that is pronounced with more force) in the last syllable, that is, in the syllable that is furthest to the right.
In this video I will explain how recognize sharp words and I will show you some examples so that you understand it better. To recognize them, the best trick is to pronounce them out loud. To pronounce them, if it sounds better to us when we pronounce the last syllable with more force we will find ourselves before a sharp word.
When a word has accent mark or graphic accent on the last syllable this tells us that it is acute. But this does not always happen, many times these words are sharp but do not have a graphic accent. The only accent they have is prosodic accent which is the accent that we put on the stressed syllable by pronouncing it louder than the others.
To practice the sharp word recognition I have prepared a printable exercise with your solutions in which you will have to find the sharp words and mark your stressed syllable. Hope it helps you!
